Field Sales Manager

Field Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, Territory Sales Manager, National Accounts Manager, District Sales Manager

Our client based in the automotive and engineering industry has an opportunity for an experienced field sales manager to take on a new team and opportunity. Leadership and management are key but this is a hands on role with extensive travel whilst leading a team of sales road warriors based out of Chicago IL.
 

Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for direct supervision of Sales Route Representatives
  • Ensure day-to-day management and associate activities are in alignment with the location safety strategy, Provide associates with communication, training, feedback, and direction to ensure safe performance
  • Monitor attendance, productivity, and other performance markers and provide counseling and/or recognition to associates as needed
  • Ensure that all paperwork is completed and inventories are conducted accurately.
  • Control inventory levels by conducting physical counts, cycle counts and spot checks; reconcile inventory with electronic data storage systems
  • Responsible for meeting sales budget
  • Ability to run data reports to assess performance or identify service/sales improvement opportunities
  • Work with non-producing contractors as a first priority and visiting all contractors on a monthly basis.
  • Implement sourcing strategies to support corporate and business units.
  • Identify program risks and assist in developing mitigation plans
  • Ability to provide project plan updates
  • Ensure that all deliveries are made in a timely and correct manner without loss of sales.
  • Working with district management, wholesale sales and corporate staff to identify cost efficiencies and sales opportunities.
  • Understand, track and forecast the key cost drivers.
  • Ensure contractor service is aware of initiatives and current battery promotions.
  • Predict future market trends and develop new sales ideas.
  • Manage and facilitate all facets of supply management activities between business units.
  • Excluded duties and responsibilities:
  • Weekly product fulfillment, product quality, tester repair and accounts receivable issues

Required Skills:

  • 4 year degree desired, or combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years supervisory experience required
  • 3 + years of sales/account experience
  • DOT and Hazardous Communication Training
  • Knowledge of OSHA Compliance Preferred
  • Ability to lead, mentor and motivate a team
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Experience analyzing business profitability and writing business plans
  • Understanding of basic financials (Budget, P&L)
  • Program management experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Efficient in meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team environment and build enthusiasm of others
  • Implementation skills: ability to identify, schedule and complete tasks
  • Report-writing and data analysis
  • Ability to travel 80% daily to accounts/average 40% overnight travel
  • Computer skills – Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
